I’ve felt three Earth Quakes in my life. Yesterday was the third one. Just thought to write about my thoughts while the quake was going on …

The first one, back in 2001, Madras. It was around 9 in the night I guess. I was sitting before a my computer (yeah, I’m spoiled right from child hood) in a dark room and editing an image to create a funny image of some bad guy behind 9/11 to show my disapproval of the attacks. All of a sudden, my chair started rocking and the first thing in my mind was … “What the hell, I didn’t even finish editing, how did they find me. Or … is it a devil?”. Then I came out and mom, granny were watching TV and I slowly asked them … did you feel any tremors … thinking that they will think I’m crazy if I tell them that my chair rocked. They immediately replied … YES! and in my mind I thought “YES!! They dint find me, and it was not a devil, it was just an Earthquake”, after few seconds.. “Wow, EARTHQUAKE!!!” and then I called up all my friends and told them that I felt an Earthquake.

The second one, back in 2009, Santiago. I working in the night/early morning 2-3AM on a package I was supposed to finish. I was very tired, but I just wanted to finish the package before I goto sleep. Then, as usual, all of a sudden there were strong tremors and the first thing in my mind was … “Am I dreaming or did I overload my brain?” .. then in couple of seconds … “Wow. Its an Earthquake and in 12 floor building which is rocking. Am I going to die today???”, then tremors stopped and I was relieved. Then Bala came out of the bedroom and looked at me … waiting for me to confirm that it was an Earthquake. He was also relieved due to different reasons when I confirmed him that it was an Earthquake. Next thing I did was tweet about the quake, called up home and a friend.

The third one, yesterday, Madras. Night 1AM, playing flash games and following a stream of worldcup USA vs UK match. Tremors -> “Wow EARTHQUAKE, I should tweet about this before others do” -> “Let me ask others online whether they felt anything” -> “Did anyone else tweet about this, search.twitter.com”  -> “Wow. Tsunami alert. Let me make fun of Anjali” -> “Okay, now, let me see whats happening within the house” -> “Hope all are safe in the affected areas” -> “Wow, my third earthquake, I should blog about this tomorrow”

And that’s how, the third one went in my mind.

And … yeah, it took an Earth Quake for me to get back to blogging :P

Day before yesterday, I went home in my car, which I wanted to do from a long time, drive home - which is around 150 km from the city where I work. One of my old friends joined me for that drive and everything went smooth. I reached there, spent time with my parents and the next day, it was the time for starting back to the city where I work.

I took my backpack, and another bag with laptop, went to my car kept both of them on the backseat of my car. My pants had only one pocket which already had my mobile and wallet and there was no more space in them. Without thinking through, I kept my car keys on my laptop bag. Then my mom called me to give me some stuff which I’m supposed to deliver to my cousin in the city. I closed the door of my car, went to my mom and … *TADA* I realized that my car has a remote lock, and it locks all the doors automatically, if the key is not in keyhole. I ran back to the car, only to find out that its locked already.

Then, my cousin and another friend called up few drivers and mechanics to find out whether they can pick the lock. Unfortunately or by good reason, it was tough to pick lock of my car and they failed badly. Then, the only other option in my mind was to get the spare key from Madras which is with my cousin.

Then, and there, he comes to the rescue. All I had to do was call him and ask him to get my spare key, which is with my cousin. He didn’t ask a second question, there was no second thought. Started as soon as I asked, collected the key, came back to my town. Dude, you are the best, I’m really proud and lucky to be your friend.

I had a small hobby of doing some neophyte art images on computer when I was in my college. I lost that after college. Some good old albums made me remember good old days of passing time tryign to render the 3D worlds on a 700Mhz processor computer with 128Megs of RAM. Today, I wasn’t able to sleep properly, was little sad that my DSLR’s sensor wasn’t cleaned properly by the service center guys, and was extremely bored. Well, this is result of the boredom. I would love to take a snap like that on my cam though. Anyway, now its going to be my desktop wallpaper for few days.

Scared and bored of this stuff. Even before the traces of VTech were gone, one idiot did same crap in Finland and now another idiot did the same thing in Northern Illinois university.

As everyone tells, US Govt. should do something regarding this. I’ve no clue what they should do, but they should do something. They should do that ‘some thing’ so that this ‘same thing’ wont happen again and again. Bloody they really should do ‘that thing’ as fast as possible to avoid another occurrence of ‘this thing’.

Enough crap. I’m pissed off by the idiots who are killing people just because they’re losers and they want to die. Guys, there is something named suicide, bloody do it if you want to die, don’t kill others.

All you psychopaths there, understand this. Live is a long process for others unlike you guys. They have had worked very hard for their life. They have had worked very hard for their relations. Bloody, atleast one of them must have called 100 times in a weekend to apologize his girl friend. Atleast one of them must have slept at 5 AM for a week to finish his homework. Running behind the bus to catch it so that he don’t miss the examination. And you guys have no clue about desi-students there. I know how hard is life of an Indian student. Competition, competition and more competition. Just in search of better life, they’ve left their loved ones, friends, city and even country and are living in your place. They’ve had lived all their life to make the rest of their life better.

You being one annoyed kid right from your child hood, take one bloody pistol and shoot in the crowd and when it hits one of the above students I mentioned ….. That’s it. All the trouble he has taken for whole of his life, for the rest of it, is gone in vain. Because of one ass’le like you, not only his dreams are shattered but all his loved ones hearts are broken.

After doing all that, you don’t get any satisfaction. You just want to kill yourself. Why the hell you wont consider this option first when you really want to go out of this world ? If you want a normal solution, bloody consult a damn psychiatrist. He will certainly give you a solution which doesn’t involve bullets and broken hearts.

Well, after writing this, all I can understand is, argh, who’s going to read, understand and change ? Just chillax with a joke. Thanks XKCD.

Guess you understood what I’m going to tell. I should have written this a week before, but I thought - readers of this blog would anyway be knowing all the information. But, yesterday an old teammate of mine gave me a very big shock with a mail with subject “Fw: Beware!! Aids can spread like this too - Unbelievable!!!” To add to that shock, it was forwarded to him by another old teammate of mine.

Guess what is the mail about ??? Yeah, our same old pani puri story, but instead of pani puri, it was pineapple. If you don’t know the story, here is the line up

  • Kid fell sick (General news)
  • Parents take him to hospital (End of the day news)
  • Docs diagnosed as AIDS (Shocking news !!!)
  • None else in the family has AIDS (Happy news !!!)
  • Kid tells that he had pineapple (Exclusive news to Docs !!!)
  • Group from Mallya Hospital (Wow, they named hospital name too) finds pineapple guy (Reporter news from crime scene !!!)
  • Pineapple guy don’t know that he’s got AIDS (Yet another shocking news)
  • So - Don’t eat vada pav and pani puri !!! (WTF ???? News)

I didn’t believe this even when I was in my junior college and its hard to believe that software engineers, who are 25 years old, not only believe this but mail it to a bunch of their friends with in 10minutes and they end up in mailing this again.

I’ve changed little bit and I’m not as assertive as I was couple of years before. So, I didn’t mail him back with technical details of AIDS and tell him that it doesn’t propagate through this way like I did to one of my college friends (regarding Bill Gates giving money to who-ever-forward a mail) and I actually demanded many of my friend to mail everyone in the To-list or CC-list of the mail that whatever he has mailed is “wrong or inaccurate” and to let them know the validity of the content. Some of my friends actually liked that habit and many hated it. Anyway, I’m not going to do that again unless a very close friend end-up in forwarding faltoo information.

You know these, even then as information is wealth [Pun Intended]

  • AIDS doesn’t spread through Pani Puri walla as long as you eat just pani puri from him
  • As one Telugu movie tells, wear a helmet whenever you fight
  • Don’t try Hollywood and don’t fight strangers
  • A mint with a hole can be polo but Helmet with a hole can send you to Apollo
  • As Balayya[¹] tells, Hand For Hand can be hit in movies but, blood for blood can sometimes shut your life
  • HIV-positive need not mean that you are community-negative
  • Mosquitoes have more deadly disease to spread, Malaria kills one in every thirty seconds[²]
  • HIV is slow[³]. It takes nine to ten years to become AIDS. In those ten years, some bright scientist might find a cure. But, why take risk. Trust helmet.

Gave you enough information that you already know. But, be sure that you spread it to guys who don’t know. I’m going to mail my teamie, atleast for a noble cause. Pani puri is great.
